I think one of the greatest attributes a couple can have is their ability to completely shut out the world and focus solely on each other. Even standing on the rooftop of Club 1000 at sunset surrounded by an incredible 360 degree view of the Kansas City skyline, Jessica and Mark had this uncanny sense of each other. If I told them to just ignore me and dance around in the final sunrays of the day, they actually would. It was if they were the only ones in their own special world. Like a moment where nothing else existed but the two of them. As if they had never known anything else but life in the presence of each other. It was (at that moment) and is truly magical.
Special Notes from Jessica and Mark
Favorite Moment of the Day:
Jessica: On the serious side: I will never forget Mark’s personally written vows and how amazing I felt has he read them to me. It was the perfect way to start our marriage and new journey together! On the fun side: Dancing the night away with all of my favorite people – and thanks to my jokester of a brother … we even had foam fingers!
Mark: Our vows – not only did it allow us to really express how we felt about one another in front of friends and family, but also allowed everyone to really get a feel for who we are as a couple. Oh yeah, and the cocktail hour before the ceremony in the speak-easy type atmosphere set a relaxed and fun tone for the entire night!
Inspiration for the wedding: FUN!!! It was really important to us that each of the wedding events flowed easily for our guests and that there was minimal “wait time.” We wanted everyone to have just an all-around fantastic time!!! And I think we did just that!
Advice to brides planning in the future: Stay focused on you, your fiancé, and what the two of you want. It’s your day … just do you!!!
Special Thanks to Jessica Martz for being my amazing second photographer for the day!
Wedding Planner/Day of Coordinator: I (Jessica) did most of the planning myself. Carla from Club 1000 was a huge help the day of the wedding. But really, all of our vendors were awesome! They made our wedding day so easy for us … we were able to focus on having a great time with our guests – and each other!
DJ: All Ears Mobile DJ-Wayne
Videography: Brad Argo- Blur MediaWorks
Caterer: delish! A big hit with our guests!
Ceremony & Reception dress: Altar Bridal – they really took care of me!
Cocktail hour dress: Nordstrom
Hair: Hilary Farrell
Make-up: Susan Saskin – She and Hilary are a mother/daughter team – they were AMAZING!!! All of my girls were so happy!
Bridesmaid Dresses: They each picked out and bought their own! Three of the four were from BCBG.
Tuxedos/Suits: Men’s Warehouse
Flowers: Hy-Vee and DIY – My mom, aunts, and cousin went to Costco the day before the wedding and purchased many beautiful flowers that we used to decorate the reception room. They were beautiful and we had a blast creating them together!
Cake: We went non-traditional on this one! We both love decadent desserts – one just won’t be enough! So delish! made three desserts for us – 1. Red Velvet Cheesecake Shooters, 2. Peanut Butter Mousse Parfait with Raspberry Coulis, and 3. Chocolate Budino topped with Chantilly Crème! YUM-O!
Photobooth & Favors: iWink gave everyone a personalized, magnetized strip of photos from the photobooth … a big hit with our guests! And, we got to take home an album of the photos, too! Bonus!
Invitations: I handmade them with my mom and two bridesmaids. We bought the supplies at Paper Source … they were absolutely beautiful – and fun! On the RSVP cards, we asked guests draw a picture of what they thought we, the bride and groom, would look like on our wedding day or just offer some marital advice. Some cards were touching and sweet – some were down right hilarious! Mark and I couldn’t wait to check the mailbox each day!
