I met Kate right after we moved to Kansas City. We met online because as it turns out, Kate is an pretty awesome babysitter. Unfortunately for us she is also an extremely busy person. A little while after our initial meeting, I bumped into her at another wedding and she introduced me to Alex. Suddenly I realized the true source of her busyness. I was overjoyed when they asked me to shoot their wedding day.
The day was meant to be from the very start. I met the boys at Charlie Hoopers in Brookside where they were lunching on dollar dogs and praying for the sprinkling or rain outside to actually cool off the steamy day. Then I jumped over the amazing urban 28 Event Space in downtown Kansas City for my own sneak peak of Kate’s rustic details complete with burlap runners, wooden safety pins, and succulent cactuses on tables filled with snapshots of Kate and Alex’s growing years. The girls had opted for the classic and warm Raphael Hotel to get ready for the day, and after a quick stop at everyones favorite Big Zap In and Out, we headed to St. Francis Xavier Church. While Alex thought I was doing groom portraits for his mom, Kate snuck up behind him and surprised him with a first look. He seemed super shocked and it took him a few moments to realize that he actually could turn to see his bride. Their ceremony was heartfelt and personal and the reception at 28 Event Space was filled with amazing friends, good food, and music to dance the night away to. Enjoy!
