Rain changes everything, especially when it comes on a wedding day. Monica and Bret’s outdoor ceremony at the Simpson House had to be moved inside because on this summer day in Kansas City, the rain just would not stop. Despite the rather large change in plans, the rain didn’t damper Monica and Bret’s day one bit. This couple and their entree bridal party rolled with the changes and even braved a rainy shot in front of the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts. Once of my favorite changes was an impromptu stop at Tom’s Town downtown where, instead of stressing about the weather, the party hung out and enjoyed great company and amazing cocktails.
Monica and Bret’s wedding ceremony at the Simpson House was heartfelt and full of personality as these two joined in marriage. I loved their sweet unity ceremony where together they planted and watered a rosemary plant with soil and water from where the grew up. Their reception at 28 Event Space was just as full of personality and life. Enjoy!
From our bride, Monica:
Favorite Moment of the Day: A toss-up between my ugly cry coming down the stairs (the aisle) or when Bret and I clinked our glasses of soil during our unity ceremony planting. Gosh, or the readings our friends and family did during the ceremony. Or the heartfelt, funny speeches made at the reception. I know Bret throughly enjoyed the dance-off challenge at the wedding. We loved it all, obviously. 🙂
Inspiration for the wedding: We wanted a sweet ceremony and a killer party.
Advice to brides planning in the future: Knock the vendor selection out early so you don’t have to stress about getting them booked. Let them handle the details – they know best.
A huge thanks to my second photographer, Christine May.
